Be it in a train, plane, a boat, or a bus. For this particular post, I’ll be sharing my personal experience on my first trip outside of the country (I’m from the beautiful Philippines, btw). Here are some tips to help or remind you in your adventure of a lifetime. (okay that’s a bit exag though but you get my point. teehee!) 😉

When traveling abroad, I highly recommend early flights so that you’ll have the whole day already in another country (more time means more sites to explore!). In my case, we took the 6:00 am flight to Hong Kong via Mactan Cebu International Airport and arrived at around 9:00 am. One of the perks in flying early in the morning is that you get to see the beautiful sunrise in a whole new point of view. ❤ I was lucky enough that in my first trip, there’s no time difference between Hong Kong and the Philippines. Yay! 😉 So without any further blabs, here are..

5 important tips to remember as a tourist

1. Prepare your itinerary ahead of time

In our case, my friend Cha (who is a frequent traveler) printed all of our itinerary for the weeklong getaway. This doesn’t have to be stricly followed but just be prepared incase you’d be asked by an immigration officer and also, to have your day planned out wouldn’t hurt, especially when you want to make the most out of your stay in another country.

2. Have a printed copy (hard copy) of your tickets

From the time of departure in the Philippines to the country of choice and vice versa and all of the other tickets that you bought online prior to your trip (e.g. theme park tickets, hotel reservations, etc).

Personally, I thought this wouldn’t be significant as I often fly domestic flights but my oh my, I was asked by the immigration officer during our departure. Of course I had the soft copy in my phone but good thing my friend printed out all the needed documents! Basically, when you’re in front of an immigration officer you’d be asked individually so even if you’re travelling with a group it’s best to have your own personal copies of important documents printed out. Also, you’d be asked with random questions and it might also happen that you won’t be asked anymore. 🙂

3. If it’s possible, try to pay everything ahead online

This is what we did on our hotel bookings, theme park tickets, and day tours. It will save you a lot of time once you get to the venue (e.g. Disneyland, Oceanpark, Ngon Ping 360, Victoria Peak). Note: Expect looooong lines in theme parks, just be patient and go there ahead of time so that you won’t get caught up with the crowd on peak hours.

4. Bring some snacks with you

Just incase you get tired with all of the walking and you don’t want to spend all of your money on food. Haha! Here’s what we did, we brought a number of crackers for lifesavers and instant noodles for breakfast. Aside from saving money, we also enjoyed the food in theme parks and bought stuff and souvenirs from the different places we went to (Yaaaay!).

5. Lastly, don’t forget to have fun every single day of your trip

Yes, and by having fun, I mean be intentional. Traveling can really be a hassle because of various factors. One is traveling with a group, this means you have to adjust with different types of personalities. Know that not everyone thinks like you do so have room for differences and just because someone did or did not do something doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. Don’t let it spoil your day or the entire trip. Other factor may also be that you missed a turn, missed a stop, missed your schedule, let me tell you that it’s okay, okay? At the end of the day, even if your day didn’t go exactly as you planned, important thing is all of you enjoyed the trip! Always keep in mind that the trip itself is already a blessing from God, every turn could also be a blessing and for sure you wouldn’t want it any other way. Don’t forget to always be grateful. 🙂

So these are just some tips I wish someone told me beforehand and I hope this will be of some help to you. Anything to add? I would love to know what you think. Comments are very much welcome.  ❤
