If I were to summarize my 2015 in one word, it would be awakening. Not because Star Wars is my favorite movie of the year (Episode VII: The Force Awakens), nor my love for sleep has not yet ceased. From the start of this year up to now (nearing its end), one thing rings in my ears: awakening.
The first quarter of this year had its kick-off in travels, domestic & abroad. God has been so faithful and generous, I couldn’t thank Him and the people He has blessed me with. With my first trip abroad, I realized, I have yet to grow & learn in terms of dealing with strangers in a foreign land. The experience awakened what was dormant in me, my love for people, culture, and missions.
The second quarter came in like a wre–uhm, how do I put this, it came in like a surprise. It was mostly centered on career hunting. Took me to a whole new different field, almost got the job, but failed. It broke my heart to pieces. Became depressed for a time, but in the midst of my pain, God spoke to me tenderly and lovingly. He awakened deep things in my heart, the desires and dreams I had since I was a child, my goals and ambitions through time, yet my heart didn’t realize that even if I lose everything, I wouldn’t lose Him. God showed me His unending grace that even if I was mad at Him, it didn’t change a thing on His love towards me. God is unchanging and it is true that if you have Him, you have everything. And I truly believe He looks at you just the same. Jesus loves you no matter what.
And now on to the last quarter of 2015 with the reality sinking in (quarter life crisis). Finishing trainings, doing lifegroups, starting and finishing projects, opening and closing doors of opportunities and relationships, this year is the best year of surprises yet. God is truly faithful and good no matter what. He never changes & the verse from Jeremiah 29:11 still holds true in my life: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
My hope and prayer for you is that you will remember this year on how good and faithful God has been in your life, with or without breakthroughs, through victories or defeat, through answered or unanswered prayers, through waiting or finally getting. Whatever it is, know that God loves you the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He longs to give us a future and a hope. Just as He is to me, so is He to you. Have a wonderful and merry christmas to you and your family! Jesus will always be the reason for every season of our lives. ❤
